Neuropsychology is a study of a person’s cognition (thinking and memory), emotions, and behaviours, in the context of neurological conditions and/or injuries to the brain. A referral to a neuropsychologist is generally made by your GP or neurologist.

Neuropsychological assessments provide a detailed evaluation of cognitive functions including memory, attention, language, problem-solving, processing speed, and executive functioning. These assessments can assist in the diagnosis and management of neurological
conditions, cognitive concerns, acquired brain injuries, and neurodegenerative disorders.

The assessment involves a series of standardised tests conducted in a supportive and professional environment by an experienced neuropsychologist. Depending on the complexity of the assessment, appointments may be completed over several hours or multiple
sessions.

Following completion, a comprehensive report is prepared outlining the findings, clinical interpretation, and recommendations. These insights can help guide diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation strategies, and future care.
