
Dr Michael Ginevra

Dr Michael Ginevra is a consultant neurologist and epileptologist with subspecialty expertise in the diagnosis and management of epilepsy across the lifespan. He works as a consultant Neurologist in the First Seizure clinic at the Northern Hospital in Epping with an honorary position in the Epilepsy Unit at the Austin Hospital.

Dr Ginevra completed his medical degree at the University of Melbourne in 2017 and trained across multiple centres including Northern Health, Austin Health, and Barwon Health. He completed a 2-year fellowship at the Bladin-Berkovic Comprehensive Epilepsy programme at Austin Health. He is currently undertaking a PhD at the University of Melbourne investigating neuromodulation in Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, one of the most severe and treatment-resistant forms of epilepsy. His research spans EEG and imaging biomarkers as well as novel non-invasive neuromodulatory approaches. He holds Level 2 ANZAN certification and has completed the ANZAN EEG examination.

Dr Ginevra consults at The Neuro Group on a monthly basis, offering in-person and Telehealth appointments. He sees a variety of neurological conditions. His special interests include:

Epilepsy diagnosis and management, including new-onset seizures and medication optimisation

Complex epilepsies, including Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and treatment-resistant focal epilepsies, with consideration of advanced therapies including neuromodulation and surgery

Headache disorders and treatment, including occipital nerve blocks and Botulinum toxin therapy
